Coach P Receives “Boys Coach of the Year” Award
ORLANDO, FL – Rene Plasencia, Republican candidate for District 49, has been awarded the Orlando Sentinel’s “Boys Coach of the Year.” Each year, the Orlando Sentinel honors the year’s top coaches and athletes in Central Florida – this year Plasencia was one of the deserving recipients.
Plasencia or “Coach P” as he’s known, has coached at Colonial High School for 14 years, and led the cross country team to Class 4A state championship and to second place at 4A state track and field meet.
These state titles were the first for any sport at Colonial High School. Coach P graduated from Dr. Phillips High School in 1991 and ran track and field at UCF.
“These kids are winners,” says Plasencia. “It is a privilege to work with each of them and see them reach these goals that so many told them they could not achieve.”
Election Day is Tuesday, August 26. You can learn more about Rene Plasencia and his campaign by visiting votecoachp.com. Plasencia’s campaign focuses on job creation, education, taxation and government ethics.
